The focus of the Advanced Operator
series courses is on the individual operator - the man or woman out there
where the rubber meets the road. They are designed to supplement the firearms
skills taught at the academy and agency level with advanced operator skills
developed over many years of real-world experience and professional training.
Classroom time is reduced,
and the courses are intense and fast-paced, allowing the student to take away
the maximum amount of information and improvement from his/her efforts. They
are suggested as a prelude to the "Train the Trainers Series" classes.
Advanced
Handgun - Shotgun - Carbine - SubGun:
These intense courses are designed to supplement the individual's existing
training with advanced gunfighting techniques and exercises for the pistol,
shotgun, carbine or subgun, and to increase the client's confidence and ability
with his/her defensive firearms. The regular format is three days and one
evening, but may be varied from two to four days as per the client's wishes
and needs.
Course material includes review
and refinement of marksmanship and gunhandling fundamentals, continuity of
fire, shooting while disabled, weapon retention, shooting from cover/concealment,
shooting on the move, ground fighting, and other survival enhancement skills.
Exact material covered depends on course duration. The tuition cost for the
three-day format is $450.
The student will need duty weapon,
at least two spare magazines or speed loaders (include a belt loop slide for
at least six rounds if a revolver is used in the handgun class), a tactical
flashlight (pressure switch on butt is best) or duty flashlight. Hearing and
wrap-around eye protection are mandatory, and knee and elbow pads are recommended.
The pistol will be needed in
the long gun operator courses for transition training. If tactical gear is
regularly used, it should be brought as well. Bring the gear you use! Light
gloves may be useful.
The ammunition requirements for these courses are slightly higher than the
instructor courses, as there is little classroom instruction. Pistol will
require 900 rounds, the Shotgun 300 rounds of bird, 100 rounds slug, 50 buckshot
and 100 pistol, Carbine 1200 rounds of carbine and 100 rounds pistol, and
subgun 1500 rounds for the submachine gun and 100 for pistol. These are minimums
and are based on the average three-day format. Two or four day format will
vary.
