Irish Blood

If I had never heard the name
Of thy sorrow and strength divine,
Or felt in my pulses the flame
Of fire they had caught from thine;
I would know this rapture alone
Which sweeps through me
Now like a flood:
That the Irish skies were my own,
And my blood
Was the Irish blood.
